Minangkabau Interview Day 2
Prof. Dr. Azizah Kassim is a professor at the Institute of Malaysian and International Studies in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. She received her PhD in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental & African Studies in London and has written a number of papers about the Adat Perpatih Society in Malaysia. I was lucky enough to secure an appointment with her with the help of my mom and it turns out that her late husband was my late grandfather's friend. Small world!

Minangkabau Interview Day 1
I went to Kuala Pilah, Negeri Sembilan to interview my mom's uncle, Atok Hassan for our Minangkabau project. It was about 2 hours drive from my place to his house in a village called Padang Lebar. I even went to the house where my mom was born and also to Teratak Za'ba, a house of a Malay scholar that has been converted into a Museum. Home Sweet Home
Usually, I will go back home every summer to meet my family and friends but I didn't get a chance to go back last summer because I was super busy with my BA's final exhibition and graduation. So here I am, in this lovely city of Kuala Lumpur, where I was born and bred. But hey.. this is not a holiday because I need to do some work for my MA course.
